Frank Gehry was a Canadian and American architect and designer. Among his most prominent buildings are the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao in Spain, the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris, and his residence, the Gehry Residence, in Santa Monica. His style was known as deconstructivist and postmodern.
Frank was the son of Sadie Thelma (Kaplonsky/Kaplanski/Caplan) and Irving Goldberg. His father was born in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, to Russian Jewish parents. His mother was a Jewish emigrant, from Łódź, Łódź Voivodeship, Poland. His family moved to California, U.S., in 1947, settling in the Los Angeles area. He changed his name from Goldberg to Gehry in 1954. Frank was married to Berta Isabel Aguilera, until his death. He had two children with his former wife Anita Snyder; and two children with Berta. He was a dual U.S. and Canada citizen.
